Robert (Bobby) Wilson Obituary

Robert A. (Bobby) Wilson was born on November 27, 1944 in Quincy, IL to Wm E., Sr. and Mary E. Wilson, the third child of six born to this union.  He spent his early childhood in Quincy, IL and graduated from Quincy Senior High, where, among other things, he exceled in Basketball. He also attended Parsons College.  

Bobby confessed Christ and was baptized at an early age at Union Baptist Church in Quincy, IL. He was ordained as a deacon of the Second Baptist Church of Rock Island, IL and later accepted a call to ministry of the Gospel. 

After relocating to Rock Island, IL and working various jobs, Bobby became a member of the Rock Island Police department on April 2nd 1979 and left the department officially in October of 1994. He went on to work for many years at the Rock Island County Public Defender’s Office before ultimately moving to Romeoville and Bolingbrook area with his family.

On November 28, 2021, Bobby celebrated 40 years of marriage to the love of his life Dorothy (Schuler) Wilson. He was a devoted and loving father figure to Dorothy’s two pre-teen daughters, Felicia Carrell (Christopher) Hunigan and Jenelle Young. 

Bobby was a very kind and humble man, admired and loved by many; he will be genuinely missed. He was called home to glory on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 while a patient at Ascension St. Joseph Hospital, Joliet, IL. He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife Dorothy; daughters Felicia, Jenelle and also daughter Whitni Wilson-Wertz and her family, including two grandsons; and four additional loving grandsons, Tevin Young, Devontae Young, Christopher Hunigan, and Chase Hunigan. He leave five grieving siblings: William E. (Billy) Wilson, Jr. (Linda) of N. Las Vegas, NV; Kenneth A. (Kenny) Wilson (Jacki) of Davenport, IA; Sharon A. (James) Foster of Joliet, IL; Daniel L. (Jill) Wilson of High Ridge, MO; and Rev. Richard P. Wilson of Louisville, KY and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. 

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, William (Bill) Wilson, Sr. and Mary E. Wilson and his son, Lamar Anthony Wilson.
