Betty Hall Obituary

Betty Ray Hall, 83, of Rock Island, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2018, at her home.

Funeral services for Betty will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Grace City Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made in care of the family.

Betty was born on November 21, 1934, in Louisville, MS, the daughter of Lee Earl and Christine Waldrip. She married Johnnie “Bud” Hall in Mississippi.

Betty was a home maker and foster mother to many. She was a member of Grace City Church, Rock Island. Betty previously attended Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where she was involved in the usher board, pastors aid committee, the health unit, and a Sunday school cook.

Betty enjoyed cooking, bowling, and listening to gospel music. She loved playing spades with her family. Betty confessed a love for Christ at a very young age and her faith was steadfast. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and all of children that she fostered along the way.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Bobby Hall, Ervin Hall, Michael Hall, Larry (Freddie) Hall, Dontae Hall, Damion (Shawntoinette) Hall, all of Rock Island, IL., daughters Sharon Hall, Atlanta, GA; and Kristina (Hayword) Gardner of Rock Island, IL; 32 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren; sister Alice Faye (Amadu) Jalloh, of Rock Island, IL; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sons Johnnie and Nathaniel Hall. Also preceding her in death were her grandsons Demenick Hall, Andrew Charles, and sister Gladys Castell.
