Carl Gene Lampkin, Sr.

Carl Gene Lampkin Sr., son of William Lampkin and Wardean Lampkin (Smith), was born December 22,1949 in Louisville, Mississippi.  He departed this life on Friday, February 15, 2019 in Columbus, Mississippi.

 He resided in Rock Island, Illinois being a 1967 high school graduate from Rock Island High School.  He married Patricia Taylor on November 2nd ,1967, from this union they have two children Carl Jr. and Corey.  Carl worked at Alcoa for forty years as a crane operator in the Hot Line Department, retiring in 2009.  He married Ora Mae Lampkin (Liddell) December 23, 1995 and six children were brought into this union.  Carl got much enjoyment from his Lincoln truck, watching his favorite sports teams, Chicago Bulls - Chicago Bears.  He was known for his grilling skills, especially his BBQ ribs.  He loved listening to jazz and old school music, spending time with family, especially his great granddaughter, Myla (aka) JUICE.

 Preceding him in death were his parents, his sister, aka best- friend, Nadine Gay (Lampkin) who shared an unbreakable bond with Carl; Demoris Lampkin (aka Bunk, who was a special person in his life), and many aunts and uncles.

 He has left many people, not to mourn, but to celebrate his life: his wife, Ora, Rock Island, IL and children, Carl Jr. (Joanne), Corey, Rock Island, IL, Gerald (Pam) Liddell, Bowie, MD, Cynthia Reed, John Carr (Melissa), Davenport, IA and Nikki Carr, Rock Island, IL; his siblings, Helen Forrest (Ronnie), Rock Island, IL, Janice Lampkin,  Racine,  WI, and Glenn  Lampkin, Rock Island;

 Grandchildren; Keonna  Lampkin, Kelann Lampkin, Tyler Lampkin, Rock Island, IL, Kesha (Shaun) Johnson, Davenport, IA, Vernon Reed (Chelsea), Davenport, IA, Robert Reed (Felicia), Muscatine, IA, Gerald Liddell, Jr., Maya Liddell, Cibolo, TX, Aubrey, Lil John Carr, Alivia Carr, Davenport, IA, Kire Carr, Zamora and Derrick Davis,  Davenport, IA,  LaKesha Allen, Yaphett Allen, Jr., Darious Allen (Michelle); a special little buddy, Christian Mendoza, Rock Island, IL; He left his memories in the hearts of his twenty-one great grandchildren; also a very special Aunt, Valerie Smith, Louisville, MS; loving brother and sister in law, Bryon and Rexie Tyson; special pastor, Betty Fields; nieces and nephews: Stephanie Hawthorne, Gerald Hawthorne, LaMonica Fallon, Donald Fallon, Damen Lampkin, Chris Lampkin and many great nieces and nephews; cousin and friends.
