The Home-Going Ceremony for Clarence William (Billy) Huff, III will be Saturday, January 5, 2019. Visitation 11:00 a.m. and the service at 12:00 p.m. at Second Baptist Church, 919 6th Avenue, Rock Island with Rev. Joseph D. Williamson, III officiating.
Clarence was born on June 12, 1950 to Clarence William Huff, Jr. and Betty Austin Huff, in Moline, IL. Billy was the eldest of eight (8) children, four (4) girls and four (4) boys. He was educated in the Rock Island Public School System and graduated from Rock Island Senior High School in 1968. He also attended Blackhawk College. He resided in the Quad Cities as a bachelor his entire life. He served one tour of duty in the United States Air Force. He lived a very secluded life but had a very keen and sharp intelligence. He was one of the very first African American men in the Quad Cities to learn the game of chess and taught many to learn and love the game. He was a very avid reader and had a special affinity for science fiction novels.
Billy worked for several different companies thought his life; AT&T, Mid-American Energy and the Rock Island Arsenal.
The Lord called Billy home on December 24 on or about 4:30 p.m. Billy leaves to cherish his memories his loving mother Mildred Huff; brothers, Bruce (Evelyn) Huff, Houston, TX, James (Sheryl) Johnson, Lucas, TX and Kim Huff. Rock Island, IL. Sisters, Debbie (Curtis) Shivers, Milan, IL, Emily Huff-Ellis, Rock Island, IL, Linda (Richard) Shivers, Rock Island.
Billy was preceded in death by his father, Clarence William Huff, Jr., mother, Betty Austin-Huff, sister, Beva Anderson, two nephews, Kenyatta Ellis and Tyson Shivers also his maternal and paternal grandparents.
A very special thank you to our sister Linda and husband Richard Shivers for looking after our brother Billy’s best interest for many years.
