Ora Lee Rogan

Funeral services for Mother Ora Lee Rogan will be 12 p.m. Saturday at People’s Missionary Baptist Church, 553 23rd Street, Rock Island. 

Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at the Church.

Burial will be on Monday, December 18, at the National Cemetery, Rock Island, Arsenal.  Those wishing to attend the burial please meet at 9:15 a.m. on Monday at Orr’s Mortuary, 1326 4th Avenue, Rock Island.

Orr’s Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

She transitioned from this life to with her Heavenly Father on Friday, December 8, 2017 at the Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis, IL.  Mother Rogan was born in Marion County, MO, November 6, 1924.  She was the daughter of George and Recia Bright Robbins.  She married David Jr. Rogan and of this union they had two daughters, Diane Starling and Donna Wilkerson.

Mother Rogan was a well-known cook in the community.  She retired from the Stardust Dining Room, Moline, IL after many years.  She was recognized for her barbecue ribs at the Stardust.

Mother Rogan was a faithful Charter member of the People’s Missionary Baptist Church for many years.  She served as Head of the kitchen committee, Pastor’s Aide Committee, Mother Board, Missionary Ministry and faithful Sunday School and Bible Study participant.

She can be remembered best as a very Compassionate Woman of God, she loved ministering to those that would seek her advice and wisdom.  She loved laughter and playing practical jokes on people!  She enjoyed talking on the phone (night and day) no matter what time you called, she would talk with you! Some of the young people of the church named it “Mother Rogan’s Phone Ministry!  She had such a passion for cooking and feeding people!

Survivors include one sister, Edna Buckner, LaBelle, MO, two biological daughters, Diane and Donna, Rock Island; extended family:  daughter, Wilma Buckner, Peoria, IL; sons, Raymond (Marilyn) Robbins; Leon (Barbara) Robbins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, Johnny, Smithy, Daniel, Clarence, Harold, Arthur; two sisters, Ellen and Irene; and son-in-law, Jerry Wilkerson.
