Osie Lee (Peewee) Foulks

Osie Foulks was born in McGehee, Ark. on January 9^th, 1946 to Mike Todd and Virginia Gainous, where she attended school before moving to Rock Island, IL. She was married to Fred Carl Foulks for over 49 years.

Osie attended church services at Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Rock Island under the direction of Pastor Lance Chaney, who she admired greatly.

She was employed for many years by Sanitary Cleaners in Rock Island (her expertise was highly noted on the shirt line) and in later years she served as a caretaker retiring in 2011.

One of her greatest passions was caring for grandson, Deshameon, helping him to progress in his struggles with autism. As a result of her devotion to him, Deshameon became very protective of her. Her hobbies included playing bingo, dominoes, and more recently, slot machines at Rhythm City Casino where she developed a close relationship with many of the staff members. Early on in life she also enjoyed fishing, as long as she didn’t have to put the worm on the hook. We will miss her yearly birthday call and song with an unknown tune.

She is survived by sons Michael, Romond (Taya), and Antione; daughter Yuvess; sister, Carol (Gary Westbrook); aunt Louise Sanders and 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and a host nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brothers, Charles and Arthur; son Fred Carl, III; cousin Lucille Britton.
