Funeral services for Bernice B. “Weasel” Orr, 87, of Davenport will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Third Missionary Baptist Church 222 West 14th Street, Davenport.  Burial will burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.  She departed this life on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at her home.

Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  Friday at Orr’s Mortuary, 1326 4th Avenue, Rock  Island, IL.

Bernice was born January 9, 1926 in Davenport the daughter of Thomas and Julia (Freeman) Benford.
She retired from the Rock Island Arsenal in 1987 as a warehouse worker. Her first job at the Arsenal was dis assembling and reassembling the 60 caliber machine gun. Prior to working at the Arsenal she was employed at the Blackhawk Hotel, Freeman and Glickman Furniture Store, M. L. Parker as the elevator operator and Hartz Furniture Store.  She was a member of Bethel AME Church.  She enjoyed going to the Casinos, dancing  - as a young girl she won a dance contest at the Capitol Theater, playing cards, visiting with her many friends.
 

Preceding her in death were her parents, a sisters, Rose Rodriquez and Margaret Benford, a brother, Thomas “Sonny” Benford, Jr.
 

Survivors include a son, Tyrone (Leslie) Orr, grandsons, Le (Renee) Orr, Mansfield, TX and Tyrone Orr, II, Alpharetta, GA; great grandsons, Blair and Cameron Orr, Mansfield; nephews, Terry and Richard Rodriquez, Rock Island, IL; cousin, Ada Allen, Chicago, IL; and  good friend, Elmer Walker, Davenport.
 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the college educational in care of Orr’s Mortuary for her great grandsons.
