A memorial service for Bobby Joe Taylor will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Friday at Orr’s Mortuary, Rock Island. He departed this life Friday at his home. Burial will be at a later date.
Bobby Joe Taylor was born January 16, 1958 in Centreville, IA., to Lillian F. (Jones) Barnett. Bobby Joe was an All-Star athlete wrestling and playing football for Rock Island High School where he graduated from in 1976. He went on to enlist into the U.S. Army on April 19, 1977 and served for six years.
He loved to cook so he worked as a cook for several Quad City restaurants including Bishop’s, Old Country Buffet, and the Casino. He also worked several years for United Cerebral Palsy.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, LaTasha Hickman, grandchildren; Bernard Harris, Jr., Juanita Hickman, & Sean Allen, Jr.; siblings, brother; Arnold Barnett; sister, Lynette Taylor; nieces Lillian Taylor, Rosalyn Taylor, Cyd Gaddis; nephews Larrin Taylor & Robert James Taylor, Jr., as well as two great-grand daughters Serenity & Alayna Harris, a host of great nieces and nephews and a host of cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian F. (Jones) Barnett, brother, Robert James Taylor, Sr. and sister, Sandra J. Taylor.
