Carlton Neal Johnson, 60, of Davenport Iowa, went to be with the Lord on November 14, 2019.
Carlton was born in East Chicago, Indiana to William Johnson and Martha Johnson on July 17th, 1959. He confessed his life to Christ at an early age. His family relocated to East Chicago Heights in 1967. He graduated from Cottage Grove Elementary School 1973, Bloom Township High School 1977 and attended Parkland Community College. He joined United States Army November 24, 1978 stationed at Fort Bragg, NC His jobs were a Telecommunication Operator and continued in Army Reserves (Units) in Joliet, IL 6 years or Army & Reserve time. He received an Honorable Discharge and his Awards and Decorations includes Parachute Badge, Expert Badge M-16, Good Conduct Medal and Army Service Ribbon.
Carlton worked for School District #169, Snyder Trucking, Iowa Nuclear Plant/Com and Parker Hose Products Division.
Carlton was a sport fanatic he played hockey, strike-out baseball, and football from a child thru out his high school years. He tried out for a minor baseball team (Kansas City, Royals) he tried it and move on. Then he played for (Ford Heights & Chicago Heights cities baseball Team.)
He held the television, hostage from his sibling to watch sports, he would not move!
He was always smiling, he was what most people would call a people person. Once you met him he left an impression, especially as a fun loving lively fun guy.
He enjoyed cooking, grilling, playing bid wiz, pool, chess, parties, old school music, singing and dancing.
He always singing with or without music, the first female he saw he would take her hand twirl her around and sing to her “off key” and if she did not dance, it was her lost. He would keep on dancing and singing and just move on. He believed he was the “Steppin King.”
His favorite song “Float On” by the Floaters. Yes!! He was lead singer and background singer. He was named Mr. Chicago. He explained everything in sports analogy. Had a very strong niche for architecture and drafting
He traveled many places through his job, wherever he went if he was close to relatives and friends would stop and visit.
Carlton is survived by his two children Carlton Johnson II and Delicia Johnson, a granddaughter Zy'onna Marie. Siblings Donald Holmes(Patricia) AL, Marcus Johnson Sr., (Annis) KY, Danette Porter (Donald) TX, Bertrum Johnson (Gwendolyn) OK, Bernetta Drake(Eddie) IL, Trudy Williams VA, Delicia Johnson VA, Extended loving brothers and sisters Katherine Parish-Rush (Leroy) IL, Kenneth Parish (Kay) IA, William Walker (Renee) IA.
A host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Carlton was preceded in death by his parents William Johnson and Martha Johnson a sister Mosie Lee, two brothers Daniel and William (Craig) Johnson.
