Cordelia Mae ‘Det’ Adams Davis was born on January 20, 1945, to Harold and Helen Holland Adams. Det was baptized in her early years and became a devoted charter member of Olivet Baptist Church, where she remained active from 1963 until God calling her home to be with Him. Under the leadership of her cherished pastors Reverend A.B. Collins and Reverend Roy Cheers and currently under the direction of Pastor Damon Colvin her dedication to the church was evident in her tireless efforts to beautify events and gatherings for many decades.
Det attended Rock Island Senior High School and worked for Cheers Grocery store in Davenport, Iowa. After graduating from high school, she began her career at Davenport Bank and Trust for nearly ten years before working a short period of time for Dohrn Transfer. Det retired from John Deere Company after dedicating 25 years as an account specialist.
Det was known for her compassionate and loving nature, always ready to assist anyone in need, whether they were family or strangers. She cherished spending time with her loved ones, and her greatest joy came from creating memorable moments with family and friends. Her hobbies included decorating for various occasions and ensuring every detail was perfect, showcasing her keen eye for beauty and organization.
On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, heaven received another beautiful soul as she was called home, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion. Det is survived by her sister, Toni Turner of Arlington, TX; brothers, Kermit "Poncho" (Toni) Adams of Roseville, MN; Harold (Carolyn) Adams of Rock Island, IL; and Keith (Judy) Brody of Lady Lake, FL; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Jerome "Tubby" Adams, Roland Harper, Krist Adams, and Trond Adams.
Det had a great friendship with her cousin Geraldine Cooper, Barbara Robinson and Rita Douglass. Det’s unselfishness, guidance, and loving spirit will be deeply missed. She truly was a rare gem, often signing her personal notes with “Just Me, “Det.”. We love you, Det. soar high.
