David Howard Compton was born on Saturday, April 7 1962 in Davenport Iowa to Clarence Compton (deceased) and Vernell A. Bland Compton. He attended elementary schools in Davenport and was a paper carrier for many years. At an early age David was a member of Bethel AME Church, participating in Sunday school, Young Peoples Department, youth choir as well as bible oriented activities. He participated in the Boy scouts and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout at age 15.  David graduated from Davenport Central High School and attended Howard University in Washington, DC.

David, a loving and kind man loved his family and will long be remembered for his many acts of kindness. He also cared for his homebound father for many years.

Left to mourn are his mother, his loving siblings Karen E. Gutierrez and Glenn E. Perkins, his sister-in-law Holly N. Perkins, his nephew Taylor Howard Perkins, extraordinary aunts, cousins and friends, his guardian angel Connie M. Overton and his very special Godmother Alberta M. Crump.
