Dewitt Babers Obituary

Dewitt Babers, 58, died Friday, September 21, 2012.
 

Dewitt was born September 28, 1953, in Louisville, Mississippi. and was a lifelong area resident of Rock Island, Illinois. He was certified as Millwright, was Assistant Pastor at Apostolic Temple of Victory, was youth leader and Sunday school teacher and was founder of Stop the Violence Program.
 

He is survived by his mother and father, Pastor Minnie Babers and Dan Babers, II; one brother, Dan Babers, III, one sister, Dorlette Babers; two nieces, Tyla Cole and husband Thomas Cole, Angela Smith and husband Tim Smith; six sons, Dewitt (Ford) Babers, Jacob Babers, Deon Babers, Richard (Roden) Babers, Darnell (Mosley) Babers, John (Precy Manning) Babers, and one daughter Temickie, L. (Pritchard) Babers, twenty-two grandchildren, one great grandchild and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is preceded in death by grandparents, John Henry and Minnie Nicholson and Dan and Bell Babers.
 

Visitation will be from 11 a.m., Friday, and services will be held at 12 p.m., Friday, Sept. 28, at Pentecostal Church of God, Bishop McArthur Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery & Crematory and serving as pallbearers will be Dewitt (Ford) Babers, Jacob Babers, Deon Babers, Richard (Roden) Babers, Darnell (Mosley) Babers, and John (Precy Manning) Babers.
