Emmet Leon Jamison, 63, of Rock Island made his transition to the Lord on Wednesday, August 20, in his home.  Arrangements are being handled by Orr’s Mortuary.  His funeral will be Thursday, August 28th at 10:00 a.m. at Orr’s Mortuary, Rock Island with Rev. Gabriel Barber officiating.  Visitation will be Wednesday, August 27 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Orr’s Mortuary, Rock Island.

Memorials may be made to the Rock Island Nursing and Rehabilitation’s Alzheimer’s Unit.

Emmet was born September 15, 1951 to Murphy Sr. and Ora Jamison in Rock Island where he was a lifelong resident.  He was a valued staff member at Rock Island Nursing and Rehabilitation and derived great satisfaction from working with Alzheimer and dementia patients.  Among Emmet’s many passions were his fascination with cars and his love of music, particularly rhythm and blues.  His favorite song which he was known to frequently sing was Curtis Mayfield’s “GypsyWoman”.

He is survived by his son, James Thomas Hughes of Turkey, his brother, Murphy Jamison (Berlinda), his sister, Gwendolyn Jamison and his special, loving friend, Janet Lee all of Rock Island.  He is also survived by his niece, Devona Mallory, Albany, Georgia and his nephews, Patrick Allen, Berkeley, CA and Michael Jamison, Joliet, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Charles.
