Freddie Pearl (Johnson) Rodgers Obituary

Freddie Pearl (Johnson) Rodgers was born on August 25, 1923, in Rentiesville, Oklahoma, the daughter of Walter Johnson and Mattie (Hanes) Bayles.  She departed this life on Tuesday, February 21, 2017. 

 

Pearl completed her education at Rentiesville High School.  She later moved to Lansing, Michigan where she met and married Claude Rodgers, Jr. in January 1952.  They later moved to Davenport, Iowa.  In their union, twins were  born.  They later moved to Rock Island, Illinois where they resided until Claude passed on August 22, 1999.

 

Pearl retired from Miller Container, Inc. of America in 1983 after many years of service.  She enjoyed many hobbies and interests which included sewing, cooking, gardening, and traveling.  She was a member of Second Baptist Church since 1952.  Pearl served on the Usher Board for many years.  She served until she retired due to health conditions.

 

Those left to cherish her memories include her nieces and nephews, a special niece, Dianna Eckford, Campbell, California; a special nephew, Claude Rodgers, Lansing, Michigan; a Godson, Leonard (Anita) Nunn, Rock Island, Illinois; a special friend, Pearlie Adams, Milan, Illinois.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two children, five brothers, and one sister.
