A memorial service for Gladys Ruth McDonald, 95, of Rock Island will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at People’s Missionary Baptist Church, Rock Island.  Burial will be at a later date in Mt. Salem Cemetery, Preston, MS.   She departed this life on Sunday at Unit Point Health Trinity, Rock Island.

Orr’s Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

She was born July 27, 1920 in Kemper County, MS the daughter of Jefferson and Maggie (Dawn) Harrison.  She married James I. McDonald.  He preceded her in death.  She was a member of Mt. Salem and People’s Baptist Churches.

She enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking, drawing singing and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include daughters, Mary E. (Shucky) Jacks, DeKalb, MS, Martha (Kenneth) Baltimore, Rock Island, Dorothy (Lonnie) Johnson, Pascagoula, MS; sons, James, Preston, MS, Ezra N. (Christeen), Davenport, Jerry R. (Debbie), Rock Island, Esau, Davenport, Willie B. (Gloria) McDonald, Preston, MS; 21 grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren and twelve great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by daughters, Aretha Kimmons and Eunice Ray Smith; sons, Wayne and Charles McDonald; sisters, Bessie Stennis and Lucille Bell; brothers, Jessie, Essie, Lessie and Luther Harrison.
