Harry J. Perkins Jr was born March 10th, 1963, in Quincy, Illinois to Susan Barnes and Harry Jay Perkins Sr.
Harry was a force of nature, who saw the world in terms of right and wrong. From a young age he decided he would say what was right no matter who felt he was wrong. That sometimes got him in a bit of trouble throughout his 61 years. With his heart was as big as his mouth.
Harry was a genuine soul, every second of every day, and refused to bend for the world. He never met a stranger and anything he had he was willing to lend and/or share. Doing things like inviting strangers to Christmas dinner or taking his sister’s leather coat & regifting it because she had plenty & someone else was less fortunate.
He loved reading, fishing, the music of Michael Jackson and the innocence of children. To adults he was “Crazy Horse” but to the youth he was a gentle giant they called Uncle Harry. In his prime he was a hard worker who was never late or missed a day’s work. Rather he was cooking for a packed house, laboring on an assembly line, or doing a simple move for friends and family.
Harry was born into and surrounded by a very large family 14 siblings to be exact, who loved him even when his truth struck a nerve. He made lifelong friends who were loyal to him because of his stubborn truthful ways, and he showed love and gratitude.
He leaves behind many hearts including his mother, Susan (James) Barnes, a daughter Melanie (Bobby) Quinn, a son Jordan Bryson, 7 grands, 1 great-grand, sister Pamela Bryson, Deborah Chandler-Perkins, Claudine Collins, Carmen (John) Woods, Alex (Tony) Gordon, brothers Jae Bryson, Blaine (Tonya) Perkins, Tyran Collins, Eddie Barnes, Shelby Miller, James (Stacie) Collins, Steven Perkins, Terry Collins, Dimitrius Collins, aunts, Carol (Paul) Henry and Janice Bryson, uncle, Raymond (Cynthia) Bryson, a special cousin and friend Chris Bryson, and Phillip Kirk. He also has a host of nieces and nephews to cherish his memory.
He was proceeded in death by his father Harry Perkins Sr, maternal grandmother Claudine Jackson, paternal grandparents, uncles Edgar Bryson, Seymour Bryson and an Aunt Hettie Knaff, and a niece Travena Perkins.
