Brother J.B. Riley was born August 4, 1939, in Durant, MS. to Sam Walker and Comonious Brown. He departed this earthly life on Sunday April 28, 2024, to go home and be with the Lord. At the age of 14, J.B.’s family relocated from Mississippi to Waterloo, Iowa. He pursued his education and graduated from East Waterloo High School.
After high school, J.B. was hired by John Deere Tractor Works where he worked as a laborer in the foundry. In 1989, he transferred to the Davenport facility and started a new life.
After a two-year courtship, he united in marriage with the love of his life, Willie Ann Cooper. The two of them shared an inseparable, beautiful life together for 32 years.
J.B. enjoyed quality time with his family. He enjoyed motorcycles, fishing, cars and barbecuing.
Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Willie Ann, daughters; Latrinda (Rodney) Beason, Comonious Riley and Marquinnette Holmes; and a son, Robert Riley, in addition to a host of additional family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Annie Pearl; sons Walter Riley and Antonio Hopkins; a great-granddaughter, sisters Lou Matlock, Ora Lee King, and Irene Peterson; brothers, Lee “Billy Man” Riley, Carl “B.T”. Riley and two infant brothers.
