My heartfelt condolences to the Woods family. Ms. Woods was my P.E. teacher from 7-9th grades at Wood Jr. High...i always liked her, she was a wonderful person and i can still picture her in from the early 1980's. She always had a smile on her face, and she was firm yet caring. I left the area almost 30 years ago and missed out on the opportunity to have known her as an adult. God bless her memory, she touched a lot of peoples lives and will never be forgotten. RIP and Love Ms. Woods
Your student,
Brice Myles

I was saddened to hear of Janet's passing. I am pleased that I could call her my friend. As youngsters we hung out together, bowled together, and played ball together - she was a pretty good athlete.  May the God of all comfort be with Janet's family during this difficult time, knowing the Bible promises a resurrection of life to those who did good things. This is a real hope of being reunited with our loved ones - I hope to see her then.

Janet was a JOY. I am a classmate of both Janet and Louis. On behalf of the Class of 1968 I will extend the sympathy of my friends shared on Facebook and from those whom would be saddened if they knew.  It has been shared that we can still see her smile and hear her laugh.  We will miss you at Class Reunions. Janet, dear friend Rest In Peace.

Through your school years, we all have that one teacher that changed everything. I know Woodside was that one to so many of her students. She was not only a great gym teacher, but a terrific track coach that I am honored to have ran for. She became a friend to her students. She will be missed.

A past student of ours just sent me the obituary posting. I was so sad. I taught with Jan at Wood Jr Jigh for a number of years. It was Jan who penned my nickname," Hinri" because the kids couldn't say my whole name. What a crazy fun time we had together. Any person who teachers 7-9 graders has to be special. Jan was one of them. I moved on in my career as did Jan, but I ran into her at the IHSA bowling state finals that I was in charge of. We hugged, and talked. I left that tournament with a big smile and warm thoughts of the history...or herstory, we shared together. Too soon...
