JoAnna (JoAnn) Louise Ames was born on March 13, 1949 in Chicago, IL to Edward and Dorthea Gongoll Ames.  She departed this life on December 6, 2013 at Genesis Hospital, East Campus, Davenport, IA.

JoAnn was a 1967 graduate of East Leyden, IL High School.  She moved to Iowa in 1979.  JoAnn spent her entire working career helping or teaching others, first at Iowa Department of Human Services, then at Montessori and for the past fourteen years at New Choices, Inc., where JoAnn particularly enjoyed her work with special needs individuals.  She was a talented floral designer, a partner in Kimberly Barn Floral, and a past president of the Iowa-Illinois Professional Florists Association.

JoAnn is survived by cousin Art (Doris) Murawska, cousin-in-law Gloria Murawska; special friends, Lee Williams and family, Marcy Stefaniak and Virginia Sheehy and family, Jamie Reese Krueger, Diana Schau, and Katherine and Joe Griffen and family.  She loved her pets and is survived by Layla and Oreo.  She was preceded in death by her parents and cousins, William C. Murawska and Jim Murawska.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday. March 8, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Radisson Hotel, 111 2nd Street, Davenport, IA.  Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Scott County, 2800 W. Central Park, Davenport, IA  52804.
