Funeral services for Joe Louis Brooks, Sr. 76, Rock Island will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Temple Baptist Church, Davenport. He departed this life on Monday at his home.  Burial will be in Chippiannock Cemetery.

Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until service time at the Church.

Orr’s Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

He was born January 13, 1941 in Nacogdoches, TX the son of Spencer and Imer Brooks.

He served in the US Airforce.  He married Walterine Cunningham in 1964 in Danville, IL.  She preceded him in death on May 3, 2008.  He was a member of Temple Baptist Church. In 1985 he retired from John Deere Harvester.  He enjoyed golfing with his sons.

Survivors include sons, Willie Hurd, S. Carolina, Terry Michael Allan Brooks, East Moline, Spencer Dion Brooks, Rock Island, Joe Louis Brooks, Jr. Rock Island, Marcus Dwayne Brooks, Bettendorf, Stacy Donahue Brooks and Quinn Alexis Brooks, East Moline; a sister Annette Louise Tucker, Lubbock, TX; a brother, Roosevelt (Rose) Brooks, Lubbock, TX; 36 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren.
