Joe Willie Cole passed from this life on February 11, 2014 in his home in Davenport, Iowa with his wife and son by his side.
He was born January 8, 1922 in Lauderdale, Mississippi where he attended school and was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1942 at Camp Shelby. He served his country faithfully during World War II as Private First Class within the European-North African- Middle Eastern Theater conflict within the Company B 536th Quartermaster Battalion.
He married Amie Lee Benson December 26, 1948 at her parent’s home in Meridian, Mississippi and relocated to Ft. Dodge, Iowa in 1955 where he worked and retired from Iowa Beef Processing Plant in 1985 after 22 years.
He leaves to cherish his life and memory his wife, Amie Lee Cole of 65 years, son Joe Wayne Cole (Charlene) of Davenport a host of family and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Eddie Cole, infant son Eddie Joe Cole, brothers, Jesse Cole, Dave Cole and Evan Cole.
An 11:00 a.m. funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 18 at Bethel AME Church located at 323 West 11th Street, Davenport, IA. A public viewing will be at 10:00 a.m.
