Mr. Foulks was born on February 2, 1921 in Armorel, Arkansas to Lillie (Tucker) and Ward Foulks.  He departed this life on September 15.

 

Lorell received his formal education through the Armorel Public Schools.  He became a member of the US Army in 1942.  After an honorable discharge he moved to Rock Island, IL where he married Anna Salton.  They were married for 58 years, until she departed this life in 2004.  Lorell retired from John Deere Harvester in 1983.  After retirement he went to work for Orr’s Mortuary and also became a member of the Masonic family.

 

Lorell was a member of Olivet Baptist Church.  In life he enjoyed being in the company of his family and friends, telling old stories, barbecuing and preparing his homemade barbecue sauce for others, and riding his bike.  He had a very giving heart and would help anybody.

 

He leaves to cherish his memories his children, Claybourne (Ann C.) Foulks, Ann Foulks, Loria Foulks, Shaundra (Gilbert) Allbritton, Ova Jean Dean, and adopted daughter, Nita Bland, all of Rock Island:  17 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, many other great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews; good friend, Jim Nelson; and everyone at the Rock Island Hy-Vee Store.

 

He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, stepfather, Andrew Washington, Sr.; brothers, Robert Johnson and Andrew Washington, Jr.; children, DeWayne Foulks, Lorraine Foulks and Donald Martin, Sr., and best friend, Postell Payne.
