Marie Hammock, 86, of Rock Island departed this life October 14, 2021 peacefully at her home. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. 

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Orr’s Mortuary, Rock Island.  Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until service time at the Mortuary.

She was born on May 6, 1935 in Lake Village, AR  the daughter of McKinley and Mittie (Smith) Nelson.  She married Tommie Hammock, Sr. in 1956 in Rock Island.  He preceded her in death.

She retired from MaryCrest College where she worked in the domestic department. 

Survivors include daughter, Joyce Nelson, grandsons, Calvin (Tanya) Hammock and Julius Irvin; great granddaughter, Nahla Maire Hammock; brother, Larry Lowe and Lee Nelson.
