Matthew A Twist

Matthew A. Twist, 67, of Bettendorf, IA died Monday, April 27, 2015 at his residence. Matthew was born May 26, 1947 in Monticello, IL the son of Oliver Twist and Violet Wiekert Twist.  He  graduated from Lincoln Community High School, Lincoln Christian University (BA), and National University at Sacramento (MBA).  He pastored the Paxton Avenue Christian Church in Chicago for three years.  He served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force as an F4 and F16 navigator.  During his career he was stationed in several nations of the orient, retiring with the rank of Major.  He also worked for the State of Illinois, CMS for several years.

Matthew is survived by his brother, Robert (Donna) Twist of Elkhart, IL; sister-in-law, Sherry Twist of Washington; nieces Julie (Kip) Perhay of Peoria and Joy (Jason) Buckmeier of Carey, NC and numerous great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother Milo Twist, and a daughter, Sonya Twist.

Graveside service will be held at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery, on Wednesday, May 06, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.   Anyone wishing to attend the funeral service may assembly 10:30 a.m. at Orr’s Mortuary, 1326 4th Avenue Rock Island.
