Mrs. Mattie-Nelson-Edgerson-Brazier

Mattie-Nelson-Edgerson-Brazier, 98, of Rock Island, passed away on February 13, 2014. Mattie was born October 17, 1915, in Ruston, LA to Charley Nelson and Effie (Heard) Nelson.

A wake will be Wednesday, February 19th  2014, at Second Baptist Church in Rock Island. Visitation will be from 5p.m.-8p.m. in the Sanctuary Room.

Funeral service will be held at 11a.m. Thursday, February 20th   2014, at Second Baptist Church in Rock Island.

Mattie worked at the LeClaire Hotel as a house keeper. She found the perfect job later when she took the, position as housekeeper with the Rock Island Court System, where she won regional recognition for her prize winning plants for all to see.

She loved to travel, she travel to Alaska, Buffalo, California, New Orleans and many other cities. She loved fishing, quilting, cooking and gardening.

Mattie’s son Hilliard Edgerson preceded her in death. She is survived by Daughter, Cora Ballard, of Rock Island, Son’s Booker Edgerson, Jr. of Buffalo,NY, Curtis Edgerson, of Rock Island, Brother’s J.C. & Sylvis Nelson, of Dermott, ARK, Sister’s Thelma Taylor, of Dermot, ARK, Effie & Fannie Haynes, of Rock Island. She leaves behind a host of grandchildrens, great-grandchildern, nieces, nephews relatives and friends.
