Reginald "Reggie" Seawright Obituary

Funeral services for Reginald “Reggie” L. Seawright, 68, of Andalusia, IL will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Second Baptist Church, Rock Island with Pastor Joseph D. Williamson, III officiating.    He departed this life on Thursday at Trinity West, Rock Island.  Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal.

Visitation will be Thursday from 3-7:00 p.m. at Orr’s Mortuary, 1326  4th Avenue, Rock Island, IL.

He was born December 8, 1943 in Cleveland, OH the son of Dallas and Ruby (Jackson) Seawright, Sr.

He married Carolyn Jennings on October 13 1962 in Cleveland, OH.  He attended Second Baptist Church, Rock Island. He was employed at the Rock Island Arsenal as a Logistics Specialist, Joint Munitions Command, Department of Army.

He retired from the US Army.  He served in Vietnam and received the following rewards, medals and citations – Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), NCO Professional Development Ribbon (3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (4),  Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm and Sharpshooter Badge (M-14). He studied psychology at Blackhawk College.   

Survivors include his wife Carolyn, a daughter, Shangrila Seawright, Belleville, MI and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Reginald, III and his parents.

Memorials may be to the Cancer Treatment Centers of America – Midwestern Regional Medical Center.
