Dear family of Rodney Taylor. I well recall how exciting he was as a kick returner for the Northern Illinois University Huskies!!! Fans would stand up and shake their keys to victory during the kick off. Rodney would catch the ball and it was lightning in a bottle!!! So so exciting! He electrified the stadium. One of the all time great players for the Huskies. Saddened by his passing.

Good-night! good-night! as we so oft have said Beneath this roof at midnight, in the days, that are no more, and shall no more return. Thou hast but taken up thy lamp and gone to sit next to the father; may you rest in serenity and peace and may blessing fall upon your family.
Rod T, I will always remember you friend.

To the Taylor family, on behalf of the Hester/Roland family we extend our condolence to you during this time. The word of God states "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord" The book of Psalm says: weeping may endure for a night but Joy cometh in the morning. God is our refuge in the time of trouble, he comforts us in our time sorrow. He is our Joy in the mist of every storm. Lean on him he will direct your path.Your family are in our prayers and we pray that God gives you strength and Joy.

Dear family,
I went to highschool with Rodney and remember him well. I was a cheerleader for football so I was at all the games. My brother Jeff Vander Vliet played football with Rodney as well. He was a great guy and I have very good memories of him from the 1980's.
I'm so sorry for your loss and I was very saddened to hear of his passing at such a young age. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers today at this very difficult time.
Peace to you all.

Rodney will surely be missed his smile and his laughter and his wisdom. Rodney was a person of great character; he gave back to the community in so many ways. He was legend in his community and will be greatly missed. Sports are what he loved and he encouraged children of all ages to take part in them. Rodney was more than a friend to some, more than a cousin to me. He was like a brother to me; my fondest memory of him will be the day I caught the winning touchdown and we defeated his team in 6th grade. I always reminded him that I was better football player then him. As we got older I could always count on Rodney for an encouraging word in any sport I participated in. He was always at the finish line when I ran the hundred yard dash with that smashing smile; he would always say to me don’t let anybody cross that line ahead of you. We miss and love you Rodney, Lord you called home a good soldier.
God Bless
