Funeral services for Sarah Josephine “Josie” Harris, 82, of Rock Island will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Olivet Missionary Baptist Church, 1115 21st Avenue, Rock Island with Rev. Shuler officiating. Burial will be at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal.  She departed this life on Wednesday at Unity Point Trinity in Rock Island.

Visitation will be 5:00 – 700 p.m. Monday at Olivet Missionary Baptist Church and 9:00 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.

Sarah “Josie” Shelton was born on May 7, 1932 in Clarksville, MO the daughter of Henry and Dovie (Randall) Shelton.  She married Robert W. Harris on March 27, 1956 in Galesburg, IL.  She was a member of Olivet Missionary Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Stars.  She retired from the Rock Island County Jail where she was employed as a cook.  She also owned and operated her own restaurant. 

Survivors include her husband, Robert, daughters, Carol (Ron) Jackson and Linda Rummels, Springfield, IL; sons, Robert W., Jr., Davenport, Thomas (Billy), Manning, CA, Charles (Debbie) Memphis, TN and Anthony (Suzanne) Harris, Davenport.  Sisters, Mildred Huff, Rock Island, Janie Robinson, New Orleans, LA and Delphine Weir, Los Angeles, CA; a brother, Charles (Mary) Shelton, Louisanna, MO; 18 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
