Funeral service for William Charles “W.C.” Cribbs, 88, of Bettendorf will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Progressive Baptist Church, Davenport. Mr. Cribbs departed this life on Monday at his home. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Rock island Arsenal.
Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Monday until service time at the church.

He was born October 11, 1927 in Monroe, AR the son of Opal (Hudson) and Booker Cribbs. He married Sherry Haywood on April 3, 1988 in Las Vegas, NV.
He served in the US Army during the Second World War. He was a civil rights leader and the Past President of the NAACP. He retired from John Deere.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and one brother; daughter, Carol Ann Cribbs; stepchildren, Gary Kent Roberts, Murriel Knapp, Valerie Douglas; and grandson, Will Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry; daughters, Terri Cribbs, Waterloo, Tra’Anna Smith, New Orleans, LA, Beverly Douglas, Waterloo and Angela Douglas, Nashville, TN; sons, Willard Peeples, Washington, DC, Taris and De’Tavious Smith, Des Moines, Dillard Douglas, Nashville, TN and Mark Peeples, Illinois; thirty-five grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren
