Funeral services for Mary E. Cotton, 96, of Rock Island will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Progressive Baptist Church, Davenport with Pastor Stanley Moore officiating.  Burial will be at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal.

Visitation will be Thursday 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Progressive Baptist Church

She departed this life on Saturday at Generations at Rock Island Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. 

She was born May 15, 1921 in Buffalo, South Carolina the daughter of Mossie Robinson.

She married Willie R. Cotton on August 18, 1977 in Davenport.  On May 20, 1996, he preceded her in death.  She was a retired nanny, caregiver-housekeeper.  She was a member of Progressive Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir; she was also a MLK Senior Active club member and a member of the Metro Choir.  She enjoyed baking, shopping, spending time with family, extended family and friends.

Memorial may be made to the family.

Survivors include step daughters, Samme, Dorothy & Evelyn; stepson, Willie Cotton, Jr., all of the Quad Cities; brother, Cope E. Benson, Winston Salem, NC; Special grandson, Anthony Easter, Minnesota; Extended Family; Regina Stewart & Family, Elaine Stewart, family and friends, Annie & Clint Stewart & family, Selma & Richard Fields, Westbrook Families, Alice Miller, Progressive Church Family, Senior Active Club Family, Margaret Woods; special extended family; Gellerman & Gooch Families.
